On Monday the 29th of June one of our past umpires and Patron for the Geelong Umpire, Brett Allen, along with our assistant goal umpires coach Colin Hood, were in inducted in to the AFL Umpires Hall of Fame.
After a strict selection criteria that included Association Loyalty, Commitment and Support, Outstanding Service to the Umpires Association, Outstanding On-field Achievement, Brett and Colin were selected in only the 3rd induction to this prestigious group. Brett was one of the all time greatest Field umpires officiating in 347 matches including 37 finals and 7 Grand Finals. His ongoing commitment to helping the Geelong Umpires has been fantastic and his knowledge and insight he share with our guys is invaluable.
Colin came on board with us as an assistant coach after retiring in 2008. After Umpiring 311 matches, 13 finals a 1 Grand Final Colin has become a fantastic asset to our coaching staff. Hoody balances his time between assisting our Goal Umpires 2 night per week as well as weekend match observations as well as working with the AFL as an observer at the highest level. His knowledge and coaching skills he shares with our umpires is fantastic and with his guidance I am sure we will see one of our young up and coming umpires reach the next level in the years to come.
