GFUL Life Members

Life Membership is a privilege awarded to a select few by their peers for extraordinary service beyond what would normally be expected. To be awarded Life Membership of any group, whether it be sporting or otherwise, is one of the greatest personal honours any individual can ever have bestowed upon them.

Life Members are an extremely important and integral element of the GFUL Organisation, not only for the long periods of distinguished service they have provided, but also for the tangible links that they provide to our past history and the continuance of the great traditions of the GFUL.

Life Members of the GFUL are elected by the members at a special gathering each year. To be eligible for nomination, a member must have completed at least 10 years overall membership, although the GFUL Board of Management has the power to make recommendations at any time.

Criteria for eligibility for GFUL Life Membership includes performance of service above and beyond the call of duty, which entails the expending of considerable effort and personal time without recompense, beyond the course of normal Umpiring, Training and Meeting activities, for the benefit of the League in general.

The GFUL have awarded Life Membership to many outstanding individuals since forming in 1935, and the following record of Life members contains many great personalities and legends of the GFUL:
