GFUL Umpires, Steven Guarnaccia and Tinashe Nyatsanga have been appointed to the very prestigeous MCG Dream-Time Curtain Raiser at the MCG on Saturday 24th May.
Field Umpire Steven is 28 years old and only took up umpiring 3 years ago after playing football with Bell Park and is now a member of the VCFL Umpiring Academy .
Boundary Umpire Tinashe is a 25 year old student at Deakin University and has also been umpiring with the GFUL for 3 years since arriving from Zimbabwe. He has featured in several AFL promotions encouraging greater multi-cultural participation in Australian Rules Football and is the first Zimbabwean to ever umpire in a senior competition.
In addition to their Dream-Time appointments, both Steven and Tinashe have also been appointed to officiate in the VCFL Country Championship Pool B games to be played in Sale on 31st May in which the Geelong Football League will compete against Mornington, West Gippsland Latrobe and Bendigo.
Congratulations to both Steven and Tinashe.
