Position Description
Geelong Football Umpires League
Accountabilities
- Manage the administration of the GFUL in accordance with the policy and guidelines as determined by the Board of Management of behalf of its members.
- Manage and make recommendations on the representation of the GFUL at official meetings involving local football leagues, VCFL, AFL (where appropriate), Geelong City Council, State and Federal government agencies and other stakeholders.
- Ensure current information is communicated to members both current and life members, within established timelines. Mainly the Annual Report, Registration renewals, updating and printing of the Information Booklet.
- Act as the authorised person in conjunction with the Boards Chairperson to make press comments and to be responsible for all media reports or columns written by the appointed press correspondents.
- Manage the Association Umpire Maintenance and Administration Systems (UMAS) and the GFUL Website updates with support from the Communications Board member and league statistician.
- Provide administrative support to the Director of Umpiring with the notification and publication of the weekly game appointments to the members and media outlets with assistance of the league statistician.
- Manage the administration of Workcover claims with the support of the Welfare Board Member and the official trainer.
- Administer the hiring of the GFUL facility for official and private functions to generate an income stream. Supervise the general maintenance and house keeping of facility.
- Act as the public officer of the GFUL and be the nominated person for the purpose of the Liquor Control Act in relation to our license.
- Manage and maintain the inventory of uniforms and equipment.
- Other duties as directed.
Key Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated experience in football/Umpiring administration or similar organisations.
2. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills oral and written, including the ability to liaise and build relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
3. Experience with the use of computer systems including standard office software such as Microsoft office applications and the ability to learn new systems.
4. Ability to work independently and adopt flexible work practices, under limited supervision and complete tasks within timelines.
